With the affection of Christ Jesus
“For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 1:8
"The affection of Christ Jesus" came to my thoughts as I woke up this morning.
Paul said it, probably not the only time.
How can you explain the affection of Jesus?
“Yet on your fathers did the Lord set His affection to love them, and He chose their descendants after them, even you above all peoples, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy 10:15
“Having so fond an affection for you, we were well-pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become very dear to us.” 1 Thessalonians 2:8
Having the affection of Jesus because we are very dear to Him. A tender attachment, highly valued and precious.
Perhaps Jesus wanted to remind me of His affection for me and to remind others as well.
That sounds very much like Him.
I started in the beginning of July taking Barre, Pilates Reform and Mat classes. And the instructors there are wonderful.
Yesterday at Barre, the owner was teaching the class. She definitely gives you an intense workout.
But at least twice she and I made eye contact during the intense parts and each time she gave me an assuring smile to let me know I was doing well.
I really appreciated that and it was very encouraging since I'm new to it.
That was an example of His affection.
That is one of the ways He loves us.
He knows exactly what we need and when we need it.
His affection for us and ours for His.
